Fully aware that the first couple of lines of a post are often visible, so i'm rambling on until i believe that those who don't want to know the result of the Stoke v Burnley match as they may be watching on MOTD 2,will not shout at me for being a 'spoiler'
Honours even, Togo. A good game to watch; typically English in it's nature and not short of endeavour and skill from both sides. A bit niggly on occasions, but that only showed what the game meant to some on the park.

Yeah watched Ken. Sick. We needed more and it looks like numpty Hughes consigned us to the championship before Christmas with his half arrised tactics. He will do the same at Southampton. May as well appoint him West Brom manager for the last game so that he can get his hat trick. Ruined a rock solid dressing room ....just like he has at all previous clubs going back as far as you like.
What a disappointing weekend's football for this particular household. First Spurs, now Stoke...:-(
Hi Tills. Kept my eye on "developments" regarding your recent liaison. Hope you had a good visit and stocked up on oatcakes . I will apologise to Ken for diverting, knowing full well that he will not mind in the least.(Proper bloke)
Developments, Togo?
We had two pots of tea and an oatcake each and chatted away about this and that. Then, we had a mooch round the Anglo Saxon history section of the museum. It was a lovely couple of hours.

Yes, I brought three dozen oatcakes and four Wright's pies home. Oatcakes are so heavy!

It'd be a real shame were Stoke to be relegated. When you look at both Burnley and Stoke, there are similarities in the way both clubs are run, their support from the 'terraces' and the fact that we are both looked down upon by some teams in the PL because we don't have the recent history of some of the bigger clubs. If your lot do go down, then i hope you emulate us in coming straight back up.
Lol Tills.....not those sort of developments... the ones here on AB. With you Ken, we are not photogenic and trendy but the game was made by clubs like ours.
As it says in The Sentinel, 'They needed a win, now they need a miracle.' :-)

There's always next year. 'Up the Potters!'

I know what you meant, Togo.

I'm saying nowt. :-)
Up the Clarets :)
If you'd said to me this time last year, that we'd be knocking on the door of Europa League qualification, I'd have laughed in your face .... not quite there yet, but so soooo close .....

Don't quite know how i feel about the prospects of a European campaign, Giz. On the one hand, it would be a tremendous achievement for a club the size of ours. On the other, it will be a totally different managerial experience for Sean Dyche who will have to get his head around rotating the squad. Will it have an impact on our league performances? If we do well in Europe AND maintain a top half position in the PL, will the vultures come circling for Dyche? As i say, the prospects of European competition are bitter-sweet at the moment:-/
Togo... we are not photogenic and trendy but the game was made by clubs like ours..

That wet my whistle a little bit not knowing the history of either club.
Founded:
1863 - Stoke City
1882 - Burnley
1878 - Newton Heath (changed name to Manchester United 1902)

Obviously Togo and Ken you know your own clubs history but was surprised to see both were there before some PL clubs.

Balls to L.I.K. for posting about a game, only jesting mate ;-) overtaken me in FF league. Good to see some footie chat in here.
Stoke City were founded 1863 and they alongside Notts County were part of 12 founding members of a professional League System in England. I think that the first club registered was Sheffield F.C. although not a professional club. Notts County were the first professional club with Stoke formed in 1860, being the second to be a registered professional club when they registered as such in 1863.
The original first professional club league comprised...
Accrington, Aston Villa, Blackburn, Bolton, Burnley, Derby, Everton, Notts. County, Preston North End, Stoke, West Bromwich Albion, Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Six from the Midlands area and six from oop North. No 'Southern Softies' in those days :-)
Hi Togo. "Infection will travel" (oop t' North). I did read albeit wiki on perspective clubs quite interesting reading (to me). I didn't know about the Baggies I know quite a few on here. I have to say as supporters go on those clubs the ones I've met the best are (even over some United nobs) Toffees fans... and not just because of the fairies across the Mersey bunch.
...and Ken
Sorry mate thought I'd put both names.
