Possibly that your account is not set up to send picture messages, have you ever done so before?

Ah , right - i don't think so

How do i go about setting up the account to so do ?
Which network are you on, Baz?
Question Author
Giff Gaff , chris
You're probably using 'goodybags' (which is what GiffGaff calls their bundles). They give you a certain number of minutes (to UK numbers only), a certain amount of data and a certain number of SMS texts (to UK numbers only). What they DON'T give you is calls and texts to overseas numbers (or the use of your phone outside the EU), calls to premium rate numbers and, most importantly here, MMS texts (which are picture messages).

So you're trying to send an MMS message but without any relevant credit on your phone. See here and click 'Add Credit' to fix the problem:
https://www.giffgaff.com/support/top-up-and-balance/credits-and-goodybags-purchase
PS: If you'll be sending lots of pictures to people, forget using the MMS service (where you'll pay 16p per message) and use email instead (which uses the 'included data' from your goodybag).

Ah right - i see

Basically , if i've got credit then it works
Question Author
Why don't the message just say - ' you haven't got any/enough credit , to send this message '

'Service not activated on Network' - is not very clear, in this particular case
The message is generated by your phone, telling you that it's unable to fulfil the task you've asked of it. It has no way of knowing why it's unable to make a connection.
