Unable To Connect With My Computer
13 Answers
Hi everyone,
I have a galaxy s8 mobile phone and for some reason I cannot connect to my computer running windows 10. I’ve always transferred my photos from phone to computer, but for some reason my compuser is not recognising my phone, I have a feeling this has happened after a phone software update, but I’m not sure. Has anyone else had this problem please and can help me, if anyone can help I really would appreciate it, but please quote a step by step guide. I’ve been in my phone settings and the mtp for transferring photos is checked, but there may be a tick needed or removed.
When I connect my phone via usb to my computer it begins to charge, so there’s a connection there.
Help please it’s a pain
Thank you very much......

If so "drag" it down and from the menu choose an option, probably some thing like connect with usb cable. When that is done you should be able to locate your phone, looking something like this “ PC “> “Devices and drives” > “Samsung Galaxy S8.”.
If your pc or laptop is Bluetooth enabled that is also an option.

I sometimes just email the photo to myself when I cannot be bothered to faff about with cables and set up systems. Just have the photo on view on your phone in gallery and hit the share symbol a weird little left pointing V with a blob on all 3 points. Then when share with come up choose email and enter your own email address.
Forget cables. I tried the following once and haven't bothered with cables ever since:
Download an app onto your phone called, "AirDroid".
Open the app and in the top right hand corner, to the left of what looks like a clock, is a square shaped icon with a horizontal line through it. Click on that and it'll open up your camera.
Now on your laptop, go to, http:// web.air droid.c om/
This will bring a page up with a QR code on it. Point your phone over it until the camera registers the code and then confirm that you wish to connect.
Once you connect, you can view your photos, videos, etc on your laptop and you can download whatever you wish to your laptop, all wirelessly .... no need for cables anymore :)
It sounds complicated, but trust me, once you've done it once or twice, it's really easy and simple to do.

Over the years I've had plenty of problems with USB devices not being recognised on Windows computers. The solution in almost every case has been to plug the device into a different computer, where the device will then show up as normal. After the device has then been ejected from the second computer in the usual way it will once again show up when connected to the first computer.
(NB: I have absolutely no idea at all why that should work. I simply know that it almost always does!).
So if you've got another Windows computer available (such as a laptop, a computer at work or one on your local library), try connecting your phone to it. That might be all that you need to do to solve the problem.
