Emmie, do you have any Kapersky software e.g antivirus installed?
The fact that the name "switchads" is mentioned suggests that the web site you are looking at is linking to another site (switchads) to display adverts, and there is a problem with that other site.

There is a bit about SwitchAds here but it is from 2010 so maybe they have gone bankrupt but the web site you are looking at still tries to link to them, hence the message.

Note in Google you can search for whole sentences rather than single words.

So I searched for "Kaspersky Cannot guarantee the authenticity of the domain to which encrypted connection is established" and found quite a few hits.

Question Author
the message hasn't popped up in the last half an hour but don;t know what it means. do i go for disconnect or continue.
Sorry Emmie I am not familiar with Kapersky.Have you checked Guilbert's link.
Question Author
it hasn't done it for a while, maybe i switched it off inadvertently.
Unlikely.

One of the certificates was not up to date. Proceed at your own risk.
I used to get kaspersky free via barclays banking they stopped it due to it being hacked into ..may be safer getting another security put on pc or laptop x
BS
We also had free Kapersky supplied via Barclays Bank. The only reason it was free was it was the previous years edition. :-)
It was free so we used it but now I wouldn't touch it at all retro
Question Author
i have found it ok overall.
Question Author
should i just disconnect next time it appears??
I get the same message from Google sometimes Emmie.

Something about site certificates

If I trust the site, I go there, If it's a site I haven't visited before I shy away.
Question Author
but the box keeps on popping up, so don't know whether to continue or disconnect?
Is Kaspersky worth having?
Question Author
yes, it was recommended by a friend.
Ok.
The domain for switchads is not connected to a website it is reported as dead. Kaspersky along with a numbers of other blockers are blocking it
Question Author
so if the box pops up again i should press discontinue. ?
I certainly wouldn’t advise you to continue
