I was just wondering what is the capacity of microsoft outlook. I have a large enough hard disk with about 10 gigs of free space. could outlook hold say 100 thousand emails of average size?

If average size email is, say, 50k.

50 * 100000 = 500000k = approx. half a gig (1gig = 1048576k).

This is a rough estimate as Outlook will probably place the mails in some form of database so they are easy to sort / search. This will have an overhead.

All of your e-mails are held in dbx files. Search for *.dbx to see the size of each of your folders and then compare this with the number of items in those folders.
