Laptop Problem, Keeps Briefly Freezing

Hi all,
I've a Dell D530 laptop (don't laugh).
After I power it up, the screen goes off and comes back on again almost immediately. If I'm playing a game, or on the 'net, or doing anything, the screen freezes, but if flick to something else and then go back (alt + tab), it continues as if nothing had happened.
I hope this makes sense to someone !
It's obviously not ideal, since I can still use it, but it is annoying, and I wonder if there is a quick fix to the problem.

1. check hinge clips on screen fixings.

2.freezing often due to antivirus conflict. (a) delete history, reload lappy. If still freeze try (b) delete cache & reload lappy.

3. Keep one antivirus, preferably https://www.avg.com/en-gb/free-antivirus-download
