Drones And Wifi

No link, but rumour spreading that the authorities COULD disrupt drone activity by doing something drastic with WiFi - but they won’t, because of the outcry when mobile phone networks would also (temporarily) go off.

Probably so, many drones can be controlled by a smart phone.

I think they want to track the culprit though rather than just stop them each time they try.
Various other methods of stopping them exist- the drone net, shooting them, using birds of prey.

No idea about WiFi (maybe if you don't call the drone for 10 minutes it gets upset and goes home) but I think the whole incident indicates how unprepared and lacking in foresight the involved authorities ALL were. Shameful. Needs an investigation at all of them.

There are drone 'guns' available that will jam the frequencies they use to communicate. These use directional signals that if aimed in the air will not affect WiFi or Mobile signals very much outside of the path between drone and gun.

However this will likely bring the drone down which they maybe did not want to do in this case.
