Mobile phone for a total dinosaur

Hello. Does anyone know of a mobile phone that has no texting, no games, no pictures, nothing but the ability to phone out and in and with large numbers?

Preferably pay as you go.

For my husband who is hopeless with any gadget.

They ALL have texting, most have games and pictures - although I am sure that you can get them without. Just because they are there, it doesn't mean your husband has got to use them! My mum has my old Nokia 8210 and all she can do is answer and make calls. I tried sending her text messages but she can't open them, let alone reply!

I do think that Nokia are probably the make with the most user friendly menus so why don't you get him a basic model Nokia?

oh dear Ladybarbara, your husband is a bit of a dinosaur is'nt he. I would agree with Cheekychops. Nokia phones are really great to use. I do think there is a basic phone about, not sure if it is a Nokia. Failing all else, get a walky talky and keep in range of him! Good luck.

My husband is the same with mobiles, bless him, so I bought him a Siemens A60 last Christmas. It is the most basic of any phone, no photos or anything whizzy and has the advantage of pay as you go, but I did have to set it up for him....

I so glad I'm not the only one with a technophobic hubby. He can just about answer his mobile. But forgets he's got it and leaves it at home, in the car, etc. etc. Have to keep reminding him - why do you think its called a mobile? - its because it goes with you!!

This might be a possible solution for you....

How about empty cocoa tins and string.................of course, makes sure his pockets are big enough first! (and don't forget to write the instructions on the side of one of the tins)

Nokia is definately the one to get for him,my husband uses my old one which actually has quite big numbers on it.As already stated, he doesn't need to try and get his head round texting etc. but once he has mastered making a phone call,he might even enjoy learning more about it!.I can't remember the model number of the Nokia but my daughter gave it to me about 6 years ago and it is considered very old fashioned now;it is nevertheless very efficient and has already proved a godsend on more than one occassion.

I have a Virgin mobile phone - a Siemens A60 (like mentioned earlier).

The big benefit is that you can set up a monthly direct debit but still only pay what you use - so you don't have to worry about making sure you have enough credit but don't have the big bills of a contract phone. I only use it for emergencies and being contactable (rather than making lots of calls) and it is ideal.

Because he has bad eyesight and large fingers so has trouble seeing and pressing the numbers but he can work this one really well.. He likes the yellow background rather that some of the newer phones which have brighter bluer backgrounds..

Better late than never! Last year I bought him what I thought was a cmpletely idiot proof Nokia.
He still can't use it and it's kept in a drawer so I have given up.
The cocoa tin may well be the answer
