Lenovo Tab 4 Plus 8 Screen Goes Mad And Jumps Around.

I received a Lenovo tab 4 plus at Christmas and the screen, at times, goes mad. It flickers, jumps randomly from app to app and becomes totally unresponsive. If I plug it into the charger this stops and if I manage to reboot it is OK also. It has been known to send an email when half composed but that only happened once. I would like to know if there is a fix for this or if it is a hardware problem and should be returned under guarantee? The system is android 8.1.0 but the problem started before the upgrade when it was still on android 7. I would be grateful for any suggestions or advice.
