My TV blew up last night. Well, when I say blew up I mean, it went pop and I saw a sparks coming from it. I got it on a Tesco Black Friday deal in December 2017. It was a 42" smart tv, 179.99 down from 249.99. Only had a 12 warranty so I guess its a case of' you get what you pay for'!

I've ordered a Samsung 42" from John Lewis which has a 5 year warranty and waiting for that to be delivered tomorrow. Good job I'd already booked some leave over the next couple of days.

I'm now sat in front of a 21" screen and its so tiny and not smart :o(

.......and educate it!
things seem to have a habit of going kapuut either the day after warranty gives up or a few months afterwards.
(I think they're programmed to do so)

We went the opposite, from a small monitor to this humungous thing- I feel your pain but at least it's not for long x
One for each eye would be the same as a 42 inch wouldnt it.

That's the size of my tablet, Eddie ;o)
Do you remember when owning a flat screen TV was considered posh?
Just because it's out of warranty doesn't mean you can't get something electrical replaced. If the item falls short of a reasonable life expectancy, most companies will still replace it if you can show it is a fault in the appliance and not something you are to blame for. We had a tv about 2 years old replaced by Argos, no problem. However, when another one just over 2 years developed a fault Curry's, only gave us about 2/3rds of the cost towards a new one.

Down the Swanee :o}
I did the same for a stack Sony hifi. It was on;lunch 20 months 0ld and the CD player stopped working. I contacted Sony to complain and they said take it back to Comet for repair and they paid bill.

Has a microwave once and we kept it boxed for 7 weeks and once kitchen was fitted we used the microwave and after a week it burnt a hole on the door including flame.
I contacted Comets and they said they would repair it aka put a new door on it. Errrr no I want a swap. They refused. So I said I would be returning to store and taking one from shelf. They said we will call the police. Ok do that then , I will be with you at 6pm Tuesday , let the police know the time.
I turned up at 6pm Tuesday and they gave me a swap.

My first flat screen tv had a huge back to it. Think I got it in 2000 or something like that.

I've looked for the receipt but can't find it so don't think I can take it back.

Ta, WBM ;o)
I always recommend people get a decent make (eg Samsung, LG, Panasonic) from a decent retailer (John Lewis or Richer Sounds-who include a SIX year warranty with TVs) to avoid problems like yours.
I have a Samsung Smart TV and it's excellent... I'm sure you're going to love it!
voting with its plug about more Brexit innit?

It was a Sharp Aquos. I thought Sharp were a good but obviously I was much mistaken. The picture quality wasn't very sharp either and as I said, I got it cheap from Tesco so can't moan about it.

Really looking forward to my Samsung delivery now :o))

I guess it did blow up much like my head has done about Brex**it. Can't bear it anymore!
