On my wife's PC when www.megabus.co.uk is put in as the URL, that is what comes up, the UK Megabus site. On the other hand, when www.megabus.co.uk is put into my PC it immediately switches on its own and brings up uk.megabus.com on which the "Fare Finder" never completes loading - for the purposes of booking a ticket it is a totally useless site/page so far as I can see. I have deleted all the history, cache, etc. and still this is what happens.

Can anyone tell me what is going on and how to get to www.megabus.co.uk on my computer ?

Are you using the same browser? Has your wife previously booked tickets on her pc and asked to be "remembered"? Most of us who enter www.megabus.co.uk into the search box are liable to get a list of options. I do using Bing. Where are you trying to book tickets? UK, US, Europe, Canada? . Plus www is not an url this is an url. It may hopefully help.

https://www.megabus.com/

Yes, same browser, yes but not "remembered", in the UK. I should have mentioned that at one point I got an objection because the connection was deemed insecure (certificate incorrectly registered or something to that effect). Still can't get on - am baffled. Obviously something is set in/on my browser in a way whereby megabus.co.uk is "bounced", so what is it ?
When I put in "www.megabus.co.uk" I also get https://uk.megabus.com/
Are you sure that's not the site you need?
Which web browser(s) are you using?
That https://uk.megabus.com/ site works okay for me
Both are URLs Togo.

Both of these are the same site - you can have multiple ones pointing to the same site.

Are you using the same browser and the same version of browser and Windows?

When a site doesn't work, first thing to do is try a different browser - one site does not fit all browsers!

Let us know how you get on with a different browser.
>>> Are you sure that's not the site you need?

That IS the site Karl needs but, for some strange reason, the fares won't load from there for him, F-F.

We are both using Firefox in 32 bit Ubuntu.
I'm not sure the Farefinder option is what you need- that doesn't allow a destination- it just suggests places you could go to from your chosen starting point
Are you on the same version of Firefox?

Have you tried a different browser.

I am now booted up in 64bit Ubuntu (all my data is on the 32 bit drive which is why I prefer using it for now), and on Firefox here the very same redirection happens except that this time the fare finder instantly loads up properly - in my 32 bit it just keeps trying to load, stuck ad infinitum (but not in my wife's 32 bit). I don't get it.
I just did a trace on both addresses - .co.uk had a trip to America before ending up in Dublin. The .com ended up in London.
Try this:

Type 'about:config' into the address bar

Hit 'Enter'

Tell Firefox that you're not scared of dragons

Type 'block' into the search box

Alongside 'accessibility.blockautorefresh' double-click on 'false' to change it to 'true'

I just want to get to a page that allows my to book, the fare finder on .com (UK) tab appears to be the only option that allows a booking to be made and in the 32bit the behaviour on .co.uk is identical to fare finder on uk.megabus.com.
My first thought is that there is something different between the 2 computers - hence why asking if you are on the same version. It may be a plugin/extension that is on a different version, or you/ pyour wife may have extra ones.

Chris, back in 32 bit now - I tried it but, believe it or not, the thing is going around and around the fat little yellow driver trying to load on the same redirection. I think I'll give up - it would have been nice to solve the puzzle but to heck with it.
Question Author
Tuvok, there are some differences between the two browsers so that may be the explanation. Still, it's not worth the protracted headache plus it's coming up to bedtime.

My thanks for everyone's input.
The correct domain to use is https://uk.megabus.com/
I don't understand this at all, ellipsis. I agree with you- the address is
https://uk.megabus.com/
I don't understand why the OP wants to "get to www.megabus.co.uk" nor why he wants to use the Farefinder option- the front page gives the options to choose from, to, date and then generates prices and times.
has anyone else noticed what a creepy individual Megabus's mascot, Sid the Driver, is?
