What Can Affect Routers In The Home?

Is there anything in a home that can affect a router to stop it from connecting to the Internet? Do electric fields play havoc with them for example?

none unless its wifi, where I get interference from wifi printer.

Amongst the no no's are:
Router on floor
Positioned upstairs or a far room
Brick/metal in walls
Too much other electronic items nearby
Too many items drawing on wifi

If sited too close, some models of cordless phone base can interfere.
My internet radio in the kitchen stops streaming when the microwave is on.
