PC wll not re-boot when selected AND mouse sticks!

And 2meg NTL Cable Modem Connection With Netgear RP614 v2 Cable Router with 2 other PC's Running 24/7. ( Wife and Son), Win XP PRO With Inspirat Longhorn Pack 1.0.

Well the PC bits cost me a total of �225 inc Vat and I built it myself, was this worth it in terms of the going rate and wether it is fairly up-to-date?

Main problem is though that everytime i come to do a re-boot it will shut down but not re-start until i press the power button on the front.

2nd Problem is that the mouse seems to stick or pause for about 1-2 seconds now and again...it can even happen in-game too which I play DoD Source and is very annoying. The keyboard doesnt seem to be affected though its just all mouse controls are temp lost. I have run Adaware, and full virus scan but i cant seem to find anything that will fix it!

3rd Problem is that sometimes i'll be in the middle of a DoD match and all of a sudden the screen will freeze and the whole pc re-boots itself. I have downloaded all the latest Nvidia drivers for the video card but to no avail.

If anyone can help me or give me any ideas as to whats going on, i would be very greatfull. As always thanks in advance!!

1> Windows re start file. (Google Search it)

2> Possibly a loading effect! (not sure)

3> Re start file. There is reboot file on your bb connection. I know of BT reboot file when setting up bb it's gsirbt.txt It basically re boots your pc automatically. It's a loop file.

And you have done well to build a pc with those specs at such a low price.

Check mobo jumpers/BIOS for ACPI or APM (this is older than ACPI). These settings are to do with being able to switch the computer off. They should be on by default, but worth a check.

Anything untoward in the Event log when the mouse freezes?

Thanks for that...sorry i forgot to mention.. 225 inc vat for everything but the monitor and the rom... i had those from my previous pc.

The mouse...it freezes when im just surfing or merely browsing my files. Or when in game... very annoying.

Im going to sound very thick here but... where is the evnt log?

Its just done it again in the middle of a game!! the screen froze, went blank and re-booted. Checked cpu temp and saying 42 deg. Im getting a bit miffed off here!

Just found it. There a few attempt to re-boot failed, theres one saying could not set the mouse resolution, and anopther saying could not set the mouse sample rate. And also a few saying that cdrom has a bad block. Im totally confused and not sure how deep i can get here lol!! HELP!!! HELP!!!

Start, Settings, Control Panel, Admin Tools, Event Viewer. I would be looking in the System Log, though any red or yellow icons are worth looking into.

Google the errors you are getting, and maybe you'll find the solution.

If not, post the exact errors here and I'll have a look.
