Colour Printer Wanted
25 Answers
I have a sturdy duplex printer for heavy use, but for light colour use I have a ‘Brother J4120DW’ which costs a fortune in ink so I’m thinking it would be cheaper to buy a new printer. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

As you may know, Naomi, when a printer tells you that a cartridge has run out, actually, it has absolutely no idea.
The software simply counts the number of pages you have printed. Some may have only one word on them.
I have a Canon. If I hold down the red triangle button for five seconds, it bypasses the software trigger forever.
When printing starts to look patchy, then I know it's time to renew the relevant cartridge.
Cheapie Canon Pixma MP280. (Had it for several years now.)
I've had nothing but trouble with Epsons. The last one caused some alarm in my village when I threw it on the fire in disgust.
Boy, those things can smoke ;o)

I'll bet the procedure varies with the different models. This link is, I think, generic.

Naomi, I have a Cannon Pixma iP7250. This is solely a printer. However, the cartidge replacements are fantastic value. The printer uses 5 cartridges. Replacements can be bought on Amazon at the fantastic price of £13.99 for a box of 4 sets. See here
