Good Apps To Meet Local Friends?

Please be polite as I had to get my bravery up to begin this goal!

I know of the apps Bumble BFF, Next Door, Patook, Mush, Peanut, and Hey! Vina.

Bringing up my daughter alone has left me rather isolated and I’d love to befriend some local people.

Are there any other apps anyone would recommend?

Googling always provides me with the same ten.

Baby groups are fine but I find often the other Mummas are just looking for a chatter at the group and nothing outside. Whereas I want to make some new lifelong friends who want to hangout regularly. That target as an adult seems tough right now!

Thanks in advance!

are you on facebook? My local pages have loads of stuff about upcoming events and groups of all kinds
You could try Meetup.com You could search for groups within a radius of your area.
what about doing a college course during the day - even if you don't make friends there it will be time out of your normal routine.

Try something like jewellery making - where you aren't just sitting listening to someone droning on and on ...
Is getting a dog out of the question and taking it for walks in your local park?. In my experience dog walkers chat to each other and often congregate in the cafe at the park.
Ladybirder's idea is a good one - see this company https://www.borrowmydoggy.com/

Thanks, everyone!

I’m afraid the course thing probably won’t be doable as I’m a solo parent of a 17-month-old.

I have a dog, but she’s a Dachshund who is recovering from major back surgery, so walking with her is mostly out of the question for a while.
Enter your village/town/area in Facebook search.
There are often lots of groups and events.
Apologies woofgang!
does your local library have a weekly meet-up for little uns?
Mums/dads bring along their weeks old/months old babbies, story book reading and the sing-along.
You may find some there who would like to meet up for a coffee afterwards and friendships blossom from the unlikeliest places.
I used to take my two to mother and toddler clubs where I met friends I still see regularly after 30 years. Alba's idea is a good one also, our local library has a mum and baby group.
Try Gingerbread, the organisation for single parents. I don’t think they have an app, though. They didn’t when I needed them back in the Stone Age ;)
