EE provides my mobile phone service in the UK. If I wanted to use my phone in France do I need to get a new SIM card?

No but the transmission around Verdun was dire a few years back. No texts reached blighty. :-(

Wasn't Verdun mostly a French-German encounter?
Your phone knows it's British so, if you are ringing a French number, you need to start with the code for France (+33), wherever you are at the time. If you are ringing a British number you do not need to start with the UK dialling code (+44) but it's harmless if you do.
Yes Sandy it was but the signals were still no better then. Vorsprung technik had’nt reached perfection and carrier pigeons respirators kept falling off. Pershing and his doughboys joined in at the Argonne forest towards the end
