Importing Contacts From Thunderbird To Tablet

My son has set up a gmail account on my tablet. All my email folders from Thunderbird have imported with no problem and the emails on my laptop and the tablet are in sync. However, neither he nor I can find a way of importing all my contacts from Thunderbird to gmail on the tablet. Please help!

Export your Thunderbird contacts to a VCF file on your computer:

Connect your tablet to your computer. Import your contacts from the VCF file:
