blue screen of death
got the blue screen of death few days ago -"unmountable boot volume" tried various safe mode /bios tweaks to no avail- this happened previously 2 years ago and was a h/disk failiure.Couple of days previously i had to do 6 reboots as desktop/icons wouldnt appear and only got going in safe mode eventually - was this a warning sign?
i did add a new digital camera- could this new software driver have caused the problem- in fact after how long can new software/hardware be attributed as the cause of the fault?- whats the "all clear time limit?"- a week a month?
i installed my restore disk - and hey presto its working! -so what caused this prob ?as i thought it was ternminal
another thing is that my pc was running with a full h/disk and now due to the restore it is clean and empty( a hefty 17gb being removed )- but i have noticed no increase in speed at all
thx
and why when i press enter for a new paragraph does my line jump 2 spaces and leave a gap like
this????

If the disk is full, and needs to be defragmented then that may slow it down, but not by a huge amount.
The two main things that affect PC performance are CPU speed and memory. The faster the CPU you have, and the more memory you have, the faster the PC will go (up to a point of course).
(You can also buy hard disks that speed up performance as some hard disks spin faster than others, and some have a bigger cache).
I had my pc repaired by a nice man a week or so ago after the bs of death appeared. Turns out one of my memory chips was dodgy. Quick chip change and no problems since.
This screen apparently appears when there's a problem with the hardware or windows, so by restoring the system you may have destroyed the problem - well done!
