Are You Pc Savvy? Please Help?
14 Answers
I am still on win 7. Really worried as I am dependent on pc for shopping, bill paying everything. Housebound. I bought a Lenovo ideapad 320 , 18 months ago. with win 10 on it. It's still sitting here! I can not get it to connect to my wifi ! current pc connects fine. on it now. I heard security for win 7 runs out January. Now I'm scared as not even had a chance to learn win 10, either. Router is Livebox 3C05. Any help really appreciated. TIA x

There should be a button on the router that you need to press before you enter the password on the computer - this is so that somebody can only connect to your wifi if they have the password AND physical access to the router.

I'm not sure there is anything of significance "to learn" with windows 10.
Clearly you need to find out how to connect to wifi- there should be an icon and clicking on that should show the available networks, with your wifi probably being top of the list- and maybe the only one on the list, so just click on it. If it's not that easy is there anyone who could spend a few minutes to do it for you?
You'll then be ready to go.

My three machines all run Windows 7 and I won't be rushing to do anything when Microsoft's so-called 'support' runs out in January. Indeed, I've not bothered updating any of them for several months now anyway. Stop panicking!
Connecting a Windows 10 laptop to a wifi network should be dead simple though. Start here and, if necessary, tell us where it goes wrong for you:

NB: Make sure that you use the CORRECT password. It's NOT the password for access to your computer or for logging into your Microsoft account (if you've got one) or for your email, etc. It will be on a label attached to your router and/or on the paperwork your ISP sent with the router.

When you compose a question for AB, there's a little box at the bottom right of the text box labelled 'email me when I get an answer'. Put a tick there to receive emails each time you get a reply.
Alternatively, if you always want to receive emails about replies to your questions, go to 'view your profile' (at the top right of any AB page). Click 'Edit profile'. Put a tick against 'Subscribe to all my own questions. Complete the password box and click 'Submit'.
