Mp3 Files
11 Answers
I have several hundred MP3 music files on my laptop, individual tracks, running on Windows 10.
The Index is running Z - A - how can I get it to run A - Z please.
Also, about three hundred are in a section labeled 'Unspecified' - how do I get them to merge into the main Index?
Thanks.

I've not seen "Unspecified", but you might come across it during that procedure...?

I'm using Windows 7 but I can't see why the basic way the Windows Explorer works should be any different in Windows 10.
For example, if I examine a folder within 'Music' I see this
http:// www.upl .co/upl oads/Mu sic1157 4800770 .jpg
Simply clicking on 'Name' reverses the alphabetical order, so that I see this
http:// www.upl .co/upl oads/Mu sic2157 4800831 .jpg
If 'Unspecified' is a folder within 'Music', double-click on it to open it.
Then press Ctrl and A together to select everything in it.
Then press Ctrl and C together to copy everything that you've just selected into your clipboard.
Return to the previous view (where you're looking at 'Music') and click somewhere in the window to place your cursor in it.
Then click Ctrl and V together. That will paste the contents of your clipboard into the 'Music' folder.
You've now got TWO copies of all of the relevant music tracks, with one copy being in the 'Music' folder and another one within the 'Unspecified' subfolder, so you can now right-click on 'Unspecified' and select 'Delete' to get rid of the unwanted duplicates.

I'm fumbling in the dark here but here are three (totally independent) thoughts anyway:
1. Microsoft seem to have remove the Snipping Tool from Windows 10. You now need to install Snip & Sketch to replace it:
https:/ /www.mi crosoft .com/en -gb/p/s nip-ske tch/9mz 95kl8mr 0l?acti vetab=p ivot:ov erviewt ab
Once you've got that you should be able to take (and save) a screenshot, enabling you to upload it to here: http:// upl.co/
(Copt the 'Direct' link, and paste it here, so that we can see what you're looking at).
2. You can select a block of files (such as those within your 'Unspecified' list ) by clicking on the first one to highlight it and then holding down the Shift key when you click on the last one. You can then try dragging-&-dropping, or cutting-&-pasting, that block to where you want it.
3. It might help to try to work out what it is that's 'unspecified' about the relevant files but not about the others. (e.g. it might be that all of your 'normal' files have a specified artist but the others don't). Then the answer about using 'Arrange by', given here, might help:

Excuse me if I'm hitting the obvious here...
Have you tried the view settings in explorer.

Once you've hit that look at and try the different view settings

Details is probably the one to go for, but it's only a view setting so try them all.
