I assume, Henry, that you're referring to the 'lines on the screen' problem you mentioned before. If so, I can't see how it could be connected to the charger port.
Ohh You're here now. Tell us ....what happens if you press your thumbs on either side of the screen? Not too hard. Make sure that your fingers are behind the screen so that you don't push the laptop off the desk.
Tells us have you dropped it at some stage?
Cheers Togo. I had a similar problem. I'd accidentally shut the lid with something lying on the keypad and the screen went a strange colour and had lines going over it. After giving up on it for a few months I decided to have a fiddle with it before throwing it out. All I did was press really hard on the screen with my thumbs and I was amazed to see the lines disappear. The screen was still a sort of violet colour but I could now see web pages displayed and I'm now used to it.
mr b
i took it to j lewis thats where i got it
she said the batter port is damaged
its out of warranty not interested in fixing it
i promised to pay she said no
If the screen has been damaged and is showing the striation lines it can sometimes be fixed by loosening and then retightening the screws that hold the screen in place inside the case. This obviously need you to be able to get at the screen fixings. Never underestimate the usefulness of a thin stiff guitar plectrum when opening up a laptop. Couple of sites on how to.
