For some reason I have been locked out of Skype, despite never actually using ti. How to get back in. Easy, they will send me a text message to my mobile phone. Great, except that I do not own one as we live in a Notspot.

It was a deliberate choice. I only want tech that works within my lifestyle. If I didn't have a mobile it would be a problem but when someone says access x or y via the app they get quite shirty when I say I can't.
Because they assume everyone has been forced to buy one and pay for running it, willing or not. And before anyone says you can just get a pay-as-you-go SIM, unused they expire (use it to keep it alive and it costs you) and the provider pockets all the credit on it - it's called theft elsewhere but in this case it is actively encouraged by others (public and companies alike).
