Buenchico's Latest Crossword

It's over two years since I last compiled a crossword for ABers to try their hand at but, knowing that one or two of you might be looking for something to overcome the boredom of being cooped up, I've had another go today.

General notes for the uninitiated: My crosswords are non-cryptic (because I've not got the brains to compile cryptic ones) but hopefully still not too easy. They're loosely based upon The Times 2 Jumbo Crosswords, that are published in the newspaper every Saturday, in that they use a 23 by 23 grid, with slang terms and colloquialisms sometimes appearing in the answers (and, annoyingly for some, NOT thus indicated in the clues).

After about seven hours working at this crossword, I realised that there were insufficient crossers for 9d and 34d. Faced with a choice of throwing the whole thing away and starting again or simply filling in a couple of letters to make things a bit easier for you, I opted for the latter. I hope that this won't annoy the purists too much!

It's a two-page PDF file that should hopefully print out easily for completion. Any takers?

There's no deadline, Haras2. (I'll provide a link to the solution as soon as anyone asks for it but, of course, there's no need for anyone else to take a look at it if they're not ready to give up yet).

A prize? Er no, just my admiration (astoundment?) that you've managed to complete the damned thing at all!

I hope that Shady the Sad will be of more help to you in solving the crossword than my lot were when I was trying to compile it ;-)

23D, shouldn't that be 3 and 5? The 3 would be "bar" and the 5 would be "stool".

Thanks Chris. As always, with other Xwords, I have printed out two copies so memsahib and I can compete with each other. May the better chap or gal win. :-)
