Setting Up A Canon Mb2100

Recently my old Canon spat the dummy and in order to replace it,, i had to buy the above which has far more bells and whistles than I will ever need, but then needs must or whatever.

I've managed to set it up as far as copying, but connecting it to my laptop in order to print off my crosswords etc is proving tricky :((

Any one with any experience of troubleshooting out there, please help :))

Which is a bit difficult, since you've done everything APART FROM explaining what problems you're actually having!

Well I've plugged in the necessary cable from printer to laptop but the little screen will not change from just printing and allow me to indicate the cable connection and I'm sure this would start a setup ...this isn't happening

What make and version of operating system are you using?

By operating system do you mean my laptop - Dell, windows 7. If not, could you explain please

I don't mean your laptop - I mean the operating system that your laptop is running. But you've said Windows 7, so fair enough.

Click Start, Devices and Printers

Can you see the printer there?

Sorry i realise it's very early morning there, if you want to leave this for now and come back to it later, I understand ...my laptop has decided to do a disk check ..who knows how long that will take

Ok Jim, if you are still around, have the Devices and Printers screen up - oddly enough, it says ' needs troubleshooting'

Delete the device.

Then run this:
