Just about there.....

Now it's looking rather Bram Stoker-ish, the old house behind, sad that it is empty and rather decaying. Think that the clock was a Victorian folly based off some involvement with Malacca in Malaysia, given the pagoda nature of the roof. The clock does work, apparently, when someone winds it up....whether it chimes, I don't know.

Very good, DTC. You seem to draw a lot of stone. May I ask if that's your forte? Although I paint rather than draw I'm rather fond of stones, rocks, mountains, etc. My artistic friends call me 'The Rock Chick'. :o)

Dt, do you ever include any history of the buildings you paint? As I have said recently, I bought a couple of small canvases, and I wondered about the authenticity/ history of certain key places within them. I could contact the artist of course. I think it's a nice addition x

This may be a very crass question, if so I apologise. Is every piece of stone in your drawing as it is in the clock tower. I’m just curious. It does not detract from your talents.

naomi - I specialise in buildings so I guess stone becomes pretty prevalent - flint, I groan at....there was this one in Norfolk, and for eleanor, I discovered that the limestone came from Caen rather than elsewhere in the UK as it was easier to transport back in the 12th/13th century.... https://imgur.com/RpD5yna

DTC, I do the odd stone building - I've done a church very similar to that one - but mountains and rocks are my thing really. People and animals are a real no go area for me! Hopeless!

you should post one of your works, naomi.....would love to see it! I've done rocks in the past, the last one being my sister's place in Provence, a cliff face in front leading down into the Med.

Animals are not my thing - as they move! My sister is brilliant at capturing them - she's also a very good portrait painter as well as with flowers, the cover of my book being my mother was painted by her. I'm okay with folk - after all, it was life drawing that really taught me, an excellent teacher at school, who just happened to be the wife of the art master. They met at Edinburgh Uni - were top of their year in Art, the prize being a trip for both of them to Italy and the rest was history.

I like painting animal portraits -just of my own animals. I think they are ok then look at real artists and think wow mine are a load of crap lol! But I enjoy myself.
