Disappearing Keypad In Samsung Tab E

Please help. My tablet ran out of charge but since charging it up again the keypsd has vanished. I've TRIED to follow an online instruction but I can't follow if at all. What it shows doesn't correspond with what j can see. Please PLEASE can someone offer plain and easy to follow step by step instructions how to retrieve my keypad.
I think the instructions I could online were for a phone rather than a tablet.

//Activate it from the Samsung Keyboard Settings screen by following these steps:

1) Open the Settings app.
2)Tap the General Tab. ...
3)Choose Language and Input.
4)Tap the Settings icon by Samsung Keyboard.
5)Choose Keyboard Swipe. ...
6)Tap the item Continuous Input.//

Thanks for replying SA. I get as far as stage 4 but when I tap the cog icon the screen just goes black and I get the message Samsung keyboard isn't responding. Do you want to close it? Wait/OK. I've TRIED Wait but nothing happens.
