When you plug the charger in to the phone it should beep and then show a charging status bar (usually R/H side of screen on a nokia). This will usually go off when it is completed.
Be aware that mobile phone batteries don't last for ever and there is a limit to the number of recharge cycles, when they are approaching the end of their usable life you will find that the battery charge lasts less and less time until you might need to charge more than once per day !
