hi , advice much appreciated .
chandlers rustington BMW have not replied to my request ( not the first time they have ignored .. obviously only interested in selling , not aftercare or communication )
bmw X3 key fob didn't work on return to locked car .
opened door with " skeleton " key detached from within fob.. no problems opening door but alarm went off .
where do i insert the key once in the car ? there is no keyhole on the steering column or dashboard so how do i turn off alarm & start car .
i can find nothing in the manual nor online . the advice is to use the fob ( which isn't working ) !
fortunately the fob started to work again & normal functions turned off alarm & started car to get home .
hoping someone has had same problem & found solution .
thank you .
Just about every car with "keyless" operation has a key contact-point somewhere on the steering column. Mine does, but you have to know where it is (it is, at least, mentioned in my handbook) AND have a torch handy to pin-point it!
