Vinyll to Cd

I want to throw away her record deck but she won't let me till I've got her vinyls onto CD. How can i get the vinyl onto my PC. the deck has red and white audio outputs but nothing happens if i plug them into the corresponding sockets on the front of my HP Pavillion..help

you need a y shaped audio lead.that is one red and one white that plugs to record deck.the other end single lead (red) plugs into computer sound in socket.down load cd wave editor and away u go..unless u get full version of download u will have to split tracks manually as they are recorded as one long track but that no big problem

If your laptop has a microphone (or other sound) input and you have suitable software, yes.

Be aware that most turntables have an output lower than other audio equipment (tape deck, cd player) and need to be amplified before the signal can be recorded. If this is the case with your record deck you will need to connect it to the preamp and use the output from that to connect to the sound card.

Connect from one of the tape outputs from the amp, not from the main speaker output terminals.
