I’ve just taken delivery of a parcel, and just as I was about to open it I noticed that it’s addressed to someone else who I don’t know. It’s my address though. I’ve heard of scams using these situations with mobile phone theft. What do you reckon should I do?

Get in touch with the firm that delivered it, or with the firm that sent it.
Contact the company who sent the parcel. It might be simply the wrong house number, or it could be a scam as you say.
have you ordered anything ?
maybe just a name typo
Yes, they will arrange return. Sounds like a scammer may say "Ooops sorry, I mistyped address but will take it off your hands." Then the bill will arrive.
Take photos of the parcel especially the address. Open it and take photos of the contents.
Contact the sender. If they want to collect it tell them you will not be available until Monday, arrange for collection after that date (a scammer will call sooner than that).
Do not hand the parcel back to anyone at the door unless you are 100% positive that he is the authorised courier. Take his (or her) photo.
I'd be tempted to just put it in a cupboard. If it's a genuine order then the person expecting it will chase the company.

Thanks all. There’s no courier name on the label, although the company (vendor) name is. I’ll try them. I won’t be handing it over to anyone but the courier.
I think some of the advice is very good

I had an eleven yr olds complete footie outfit delivered
and rang up littlewoods the sender
who said "o god they got your D o b wrong - no idea how this occurred. But wait there are four more fraudulent accounts ...."

it was either the dis-satisfied tenant I keep writing about = = = or
the lady opposite, who was gonna rush out when I was out and say oh yes I will look after it until he returns ....

I have also be cloned twice. perhaps I just live in an unlucky part of the city .....
