Chances are it'll take the fuse in the lighter adaptor plug when cranked up or, if you uprate the fuse, melt the skinny cable.
Why not use headphones, added advantage of reducing external noise if you use the over the ear ones?
head phones and your phone..... listen to loads on my phone.
Cigarette lighter is usually rated between 10 & 15 amps. Easily enough to power a car radio.
If the car stereo needs 12 volts then the 'Cigarette Lighter Socket, would appear to be the easiest place to get the supply... Incidentally, because smoking in vehicles is somewhat frowned upon, the lighter socket has become known as 'Automobile auxiliary power outlet'.

I don't know if you will be needing a plug for the stereo connection into the socket.:-

Bit late I know but have you thought along the lines of a small bluetooth speaker ? I presume your iPod has Bluetooth ?

Entranced; I really think it would be better to forgo your muzak while you are operating a tractor. Boring, I know; you can live without 'music' but you and others can't live in safety with people operating powerful machines when their minds are hazed by distraction.
