I am doing a framed photo of a beautiful poem for my friend who recently lost her husband and I would like to use the photo of her flowers as a header, any ideas?
Not too impressed with Photoshop

I'll have a play about with that , thanks Sparkly
Bobbi, I've been using Apache Open Office for years.
It's recommended by Chris Buenchico all the time as a free alternative to Microsoft Word.

I've done very similar things to yours many times. Possibly the simplest way is to drag a pic from the desktop onto the document.
Then you can add your text.
Perhaps you have Word. You could use that.
Question Author
Thanks builder, yes I have word as well so I shall have a look at that too
Ok. You could try the Drawing application, or Publishing etc, but I've always just used a normal text document as if I were simply writing a letter.

As with all these things, it'll probably be a bit of a learning curve.
Good luck ;o)

I would have liked to have put the flowers as a background then text on top but I haven't tried working with layers, that might be a little too ambitious I think
thanks for your help
In that case. Something else to think about...
"Overprinting". Just print out the pic of the flowers, then run the same piece of paper through the printer again, but overprinting with a text only message, or poem.

Never tried it, but it sounds feasible.
If you use Microsoft Powerpoint you can change the intensity of the image and then put text over it. I use this for DVD covers, using the full intensity picture on the front and a "washout" with the index printed over it.
Depends on the printer (for Builder’s double-print suggestion). Definitely worth experimenting.

Photoshop IS the program, but it’s not easy. There is a Photoshop for Dummies book.

Haven’t you got a friend you’d do it for you? If you’re desperate, I’ll set up a way of contacting me!

ohh, great I will also give that a bash too bhg, wish me luck
Question Author
not desperate per se Allen but I really would love to give her this as I think it might help the healing process
Question Author
just thinking Builder, will that work on Photo paper or will I get a smudging?
Okay, Bobbi, keep me in reserve.

Re Builder’s idea - try it on photo paper, as inkjet tends to ‘set’ very quickly. But it really is a suck it and see process.
Question Author
I will Allen, that's very kind of you
will this help

Question Author
it certainly will Paul, many thanks
Question Author
thanks for all your help I have managed to get what I want but by using the image (Flowers) as a backdrop they became pixelated so instead I used them as a header but I have forgotten what to use to download it to show
