Mouse Not Working - Help Please

I was working on my laptop yesterday and the mouse was working fine as usual. Closed it down as normal last night.

Started it up this morning and the mouse doesn't work. I hate using the touchpad so I really do want to get it working again.

Microsoft mouse with a receiver which plugs into a USB port.

Any suggestions?

Some mice have a Reset button - does yours?

Which key depends on the laptop.
Anyway it sounds as though it was not that

Stranger and stranger. Permanent mouse swap then?

No swap - me buying new mouse....

I think I need one too Edmund - am having to lift flap of the mouse to "straighten" the battery nearly every day. They are only about £10.
