Outlook and AVG

I am having problems with my email, (OE6) i can send emails no problem at all, but when i open it to receive them it is so slow, it is untrue, and the little box comes up, saying AVG is scanning, and eventually it will receive them, but most of the time it doesn't!

Anyone with any ideas what my problem could be would be mucho appreciated! :)

The anti virus will be slowing things down I guess. The only thing may be to change anti-virus but this may save little time.

As your OE gets full of messages it runs slower and slower. Try deleting your sent messages, some from your inbox messages that you no longer need and of course your deleted files. This should ensure that things run faster.

i had this problem too, only way i got rid of it was to get rid of avg and put norton on

Chelsea, for heavens sake whatever you do, dont use Norton. I had to reformat my pc coz of that cack. I have AVG also - Open the preferences and un select check incoming and outgoing messages. You AVG is scanning absolutely everything coming in and out to make sure they have no viruses attached. Un select these prefs and all shall be healed. In dount check through all the prefs and then do an update. What version of AVG are you running? The most up to date is AVG 7.
