"The feature has been rolled out since about 2018, an eBay spokesperson said - with business sellers moving first. An estimated four million sellers are already using it."

I'm sure sellers are already aware of the change.
The new system is called 'Managed Payments'.. I have been on the new system for about 3 months now. Instead of getting your money instantly as it was with Paypal. I now get a payout from ebay every Tuesday. Not a lot has changed unless you were relying on those instant payments.

the problem is alavahalf is the Ebay heavily favour buyers so any issues they just DD your account when they feel like it which may not be convenient for you. Paypal did lock disputed payments but that's different to having carte blanche to DD your account.
Don't companies have to give notice of a dd?
We knew about that last year, it has been widely reported and eBay and PayPal have sent emails about it.
TTT .. I am aware that ebay favour the buyers in most disputes.
The way I look at it is, if someone goes out of their way to scam me, they are going to do just that. It has happened twice in the past and I just contact them and ask that they don't leave me any bad feedback, refund their money and take it on the chin. I also suggest if the item does arrive .. just keep it.
Having dealt on ebay for as long as it has been about, I can confirm that most buyers are decent people and don't try to scam you. As long as the vast majority are honest, then we will always have a trading platform.
The day that I have to start chasing Couriers companies and the Post Office over scams will be the day I shall give up. If you worry about ebay having access to your account then remove any overdraft facilities in that account and daily remove any funds that are paid into the account.
The one thing that I can now see easily since the change over, is exactly how much ebay extract from every payment received from a buyer. Each transaction is itemised, whereas before you just received a monthy bill for the whole months fees.
Thats strange alavahalf, because I've always had a monthly itemised invoice from Ebay as long as Ive had the account. I've stopped selling on Ebay. Etsy pay you on a weekly basis and I've had no problems with that so far, in about 5 years of trading on there.
Itemised invoices for me, too, going back many years
