I'm Wanting To Get A Laptop And Need Some Advise Since I've Never Done This Before

So I am planning on getting a career in software engineering and I'm wanting a laptop that I don't have to replace for several years, Though I'm only just starting to learn about software engineering I want to prepare myself for the future. I already have different laptops in mind at different prices, but other suggestions and recommendations are appreciated, and as of right now I don't even know where to start when it comes to equipment.

You would probably be better suited to a US site as B is predominantly Uk, we could recommend companies that would make the machine you need but the postage insurance etc would be significant.

Look at Asus, larger keys, designed for engineers and more robust and very reasonable on the price front. Mine is 2 years+ old and 286GB of capacity.....plenty of fire power for what I need.
