Thanks to Barry1010, Sunny Dave and the irrepressible Buenchico I now have my Chromebook up and running !! New battery arrived last evening ( problem with Yodel hence the long wait for the battery), took the old one out today, charged new one and hey presto !!
Thanks once again chaps, this is what The Answer bank is all about.

Glad you got it sorted,my macbook pro died a death last week,the man i spoke to in the shop said it would be the screen or motherboard,my son fixed it last night just took some stuff off i didn't need and updated some drivers and its ok at the moment,fingers crossed it stays that way.
