Emmc Or Ssd

To me, eMMc is like an SD card soldered into the motherboard. OK for phones and tablets but not for a laptop. My thinking is a phone is generally knackered after a couple years of writing/rewriting onto the chip whereas an ssd can be changed. Opinions please.
