Help!! I'm trying to explain to my 75 year old neighbour how to use the internet & it's a bit like teaching my dog to knit! Can anyone recommend a very basic book please that might help her?

What about "Internet for Dummies"? I have a couple of the "... for Dummies" series and they are pretty good
There are books aimed specifically at "Silver Surfers": http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/202-7910285-1943065 (there's probably more!)

So has your dog knitted anything decent yet?

If so, does the dog use this book: Knitting With Dog Hair

Doh!

The link in my first answer is no good! Try:

Grandma's Guide to the Internet

...and there are some other likely titles if you look at "Customers who also bought this item also bought:".

Thanks all! Not sure how my neighbour would take to being called a Dummy tho' mycatis - I might find it hitting me on the back of the head as I ran out the door!

My dog is doing considerably better with his knitting than neighbour is with the net - in fact, since showing him the dog hair book, he's now eyeing up the terrier next door with a set of clippers in his pocket.
