Me again. For some reason my inbox on Outlook has started displaying the sender alone, above the full sender and subject of each email.
There's no check box beside the rogue ones but they disappear when the actual email's deleted.
I don't remember changing any setting and wondered if anyone knew what's going on.

This was previously posted in Chatterbank to no avail so I'm trying the proper section now

Thanks for looking.

Clarification, please:
(Microsoft stupidly used the name 'Outlook' for two entirely different things and it's led to plenty of confusion here in AB's 'Technology' section in the past!). Are you using the email client (= computer program) called 'Outlook' to access your email account without using your web browser or are you using the 'Outlook.com' website through a web browser?

outlook.live.com/mail to access emails, via Firefox, Chris.
Thanks for that, Douglas.

Start by simply trying another browser, such as Edge or Chrome. (I'm not recommending either of those browsers but simply suggesting those that you're likely to already have on your computer). If, as I suspect, the problem disappears, you need to go back to Firefox and then . . .

1. Clear the cache:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-clear-firefox-cache
(I suggest restarting Firefox after you've done so).

That might well fix the problem but, if not, . . .

2. Reset Firefox to its 'out of the box' state:
Firstly, note down the names of any extensions that you want to retain, as a reset will remove them and you'll need to reinstall them afterwards. (Click the three lines, at the top right. Select Add-ons and Themes > Extensions to see which extensions you've currently got installed).
Then go to Three Lines > Help > More Troubleshooting Information > Refresh Firefox (at the top right) to carry out the reset.

Exactly the same using Edge and Chrome. I'll give the other stuff a go tomorrow, too far down the bottle for now. :-)

Thanks in the meantime.

Weird! That suggests that the problem is 'at the other end' (on Microsoft's server). I doubt that there's much that you can do about it then. Sorry :(
One day Microsoft will produce software that works reliably – they have been trying for over 30 years, I suspect that they will still be trying at the end of another 30 years.

Aha! Switched to listing in date order rather than alphabetical and, hey prestwick, one of each again.

Not exactly a cure for the common cold but thought I'd update y'all. :-)
