Sounds as if it all worked out for the best! You didn't have a long walk home and you got out - with a cast iron excuse for doing it again! There are many would have sold their souls for that freedom last year. A plus point is that you will have gone down as a 'snappy dresser' for an ordinary evening out - 'fraid you'll now have to buy more clothes to keep up the illusion! :)
We ended up in a nearby pub the time my friend gave me details of the play she had booked for us to see at the local theatre, Bobbi.
Empty car park and empty foyer. The puzzled chap filing his nails behind the desk informed us the play was last night... :-(
Mind you, had I got the wrong day for the wedding to the first MrG I'd not have complained...in hindsight.... ;-)

It was a couple of hours out Gness, I can’t recall the last time we went out on a Friday night, I used to go to the village with the girls and walk along Front street visiting the pubs, everyone took the same route , there was only 4 of them , we ended up at the last one where they belted out 80s music ,it was great at the time but I’m a comfie person with a log burner now :0)
I asked his partner what was his drink as we didn’t want to go empty handed Pat,I was totally unaware that they were the actual licensees of the pub, last time we heard they were running a pub in Worcestershire, heard through the grapevine they’d come back here , the message on FB. from her was ‘If you’re seeing this then you are invited to Andy’s surprise 60th at the . Surprised alright, surprised they were said mine hosts x
