I want to put some podcasts from YouTube onto my iPod classic.

I downloaded a converter but it didn't have simple instructions. I got the link into the converter but couldn't work out how to get it onto iTunes. iTunes is a programme/app/thingy that I have never quite understood,

Apart from buying a simpler Mp3 player is there a simple way to do this - with a converter that is legal and reliable? I don't want to do it with the converter that I downloaded.

Thank

Assuming that you're doing the downloading bit with a Windows PC or laptop . . .

Go to the relevant YouTube page.

Copy the URL from the address bar.

Go here: https://www.converto.io/en34/?
(NB: IGNORE the prompt to 'Download VidKeeper'. You don't need it and it might dump a load of junk on your computer).

Paste the YouTube link into the box.

After a few moments, you'll see the video's thumbnail appear. Check that the 'Convert to' field alongside it is showing 'MP3'.

Click 'Convert'.

Once the conversion has been finished, click the 'Download' link to get the file. Save it to any convenient location on your computer.

Then transfer it to your iPod, just as you would with any other audio file.
If you just want the audio - download the Youtube video then open it with Audacity - it will ignore the video and just give you the audio.

You can then save that as a MP3 or other audio format.

Thanks, Chris and Tuvok.

I will try it tomorrow.

When I work in Oxfam I can't stop talking so this is part of my master plan to shut me up so that other people can also work. I sometimes shut the door to the office but people keep coming to visit me with offers of tea and biscuits.

You can access YouTube on anything via a browser and the url.

Gromit - the iPod is very old and doesn't know that the internet exists, I am only marginally better.
Buenchico,
They are using an old Apple iPod, not Windoze.
Wolf63,
I still have an old iPod that I sometimes use.
Do you know what version of iOS you are using, and whether the Youtube app is up to date ?
^^^ I recognise that, Gromit, but you can't connect one of these

directly to the internet. You need to connect it to a PC (or some other suitable device, such as an iPad) in order to load MP3 files onto it.

I am using windows 10 on both laptops, I can attach the iPod to the laptop downstairs. I use youtube on the browser and I don't know what the iPod is working on.

I am getting even more confused as I go on, would it be simpler to buy a new, cheap mp3 player and I could use the iPod for playing music in the house?

I was going to get my brother to do it for me, but COVID has kept us apart for two and a half years. Anyhow, I have tons of other stuff for him to do!

I am going to have to go, I need to go to bed.

Maybe this will make more sense when I am awake

A bit dependent on which iPod you have.
Do you have Apple iPod on your device, or the iPod store so you can download it ?
