when does the error message pop up?
Question Author
to be honest i cant remember when it pops up but its usually when i'm trying to install a program that i've downloaded off the internet. does that help?

not really no.

a cabinet file is a file that stores all sorts of data all in once place; a bit like a zip file. its just like a file cabinet in the real world. so without any more information, it could be due to all sorts of things.

next time it's up, copy word for word exactly what it says (and any specific error numbers if it gives them), and what you were doing or about to try and do when it popped up.

Tell you what fo3nix, it hasn't come up anymore but what is really getting on my nerves is when i try to install i-tunes (bearing in mind that i've tried to install it about six times now) it downloads it with no problems but when its installing it it gets to a point when this appears: "Feature transfer error. Error:-1603 Fatal error during installation. Consult windows Installer Help (msi.chm)or MSDN for more information." After that it won't install anymore. Any suggestions?
not really, sorry. i assume you are running windows 2000 or XP.

run www.windowsupdate.com from internet explorer, and download any updates. then try the download and install again.
