Iphone Text Messages

As I don’t have a mobile phone, can anybody answer this that I got from a friend:

A "tumbling" word which just scrolls constantly down the screen has appeared in wife’s text messages and she has no idea how to get rid of it. Is this something someone has sent her or is it some kind of virus? Any ideas?

It's just the iPhone messaging service and the word is WORK.

I have iPhone and I’m not sure what they mean by the messaging service. It’s very unlikely to be a virus on an iPhone. If it’s a text message then it can just be deleted.
