How Can I Transfer Devops Data To Any Bi Tool?
1 Answers
I have data on Azure DevOps which gets updated every 5 minutes. Using this data I want to create a dashboard in some BI tool which will provide a consolidated view of the data. I am currently using MicroStrategy which does not support DevOps. Using Power Bi is not an option. I want an indirect way through which I can pull the data in DevOps into MicroStrategy maybe through Azure Cosmos DB. So can I transfer data in devops to cosmos db??

One approach is to use Azure Data Factory, which is a cloud-based data integration service that allows you to create data-driven workflows for orchestrating and automating data movement and data transformation. Here's a high-level overview of the steps involved:
Set up an Azure Cosmos DB instance: Create an Azure Cosmos DB account to act as the destination for your data from Azure DevOps.
Extract data from Azure DevOps: Use Azure Data Factory to connect to Azure DevOps and extract the data you want to transfer. Azure Data Factory supports various data connectors, and you can use the Azure DevOps connector to access data from your Azure DevOps organization.
Transform the data (optional): You can apply data transformation operations in Azure Data Factory if needed, to prepare the data in the desired format before loading it into Cosmos DB.
Load data into Azure Cosmos DB: Use Azure Data Factory to load the extracted and possibly transformed data into Azure Cosmos DB.
Visualization in MicroStrategy: Once the data is in Azure Cosmos DB, you can use MicroStrategy's connectivity capabilities to connect to Azure Cosmos DB as a data source and create visualizations and dashboards using the data.
Keep in mind that data transfer frequency (every 5 minutes in your case) and data volume will be factors to consider in your architecture. You might need to design your data transfer pipeline in Azure Data Factory accordingly to handle real-time data updates efficiently.
