Asda mobile, who I have been with for years, has informed me my PAYG rates will be going up in September. Calls from 4p to 15p per minute and text 4p to 10p. I rarely use it for calls but at 15p when calling companies it will cost a fortune listening to their recorded messages telling me what position I am in the queue. I never use data only WiFi. I don't want a bundle it will be of no benefit to me whatsoever. I've Googled but so far haven't been able to find a simple PAYG where I pay upfront then top-up. Has anyone any suggestions please. Thank you.

With 1p Mobile, you have to top up with a tenner every three months but calls are only charged at 1p per minute. So that's equivalent to £3.33 per month for 333 minutes per month, which might work out to be your cheapest option:

I've just taken a look at Martin Lewis's website and he seems to agree that 1p Mobile looks best for you:

£10 top up required every 120 days.

Thank you both. I'd picked up on that too. Looks as though it's going to be my best option. Nobody seems to provide exactly what I need unfortunately. Thanks again for replying.
as stated twice on here 1p mobile i pay £30 for 365 days i hardly use data so many calls can be had also you can top up online if need be,
"Nobody seems to provide exactly what I need unfortunately. " cant be looking for anything more than this by the looks of it,
Question Author
It's certainly going to be the best option by the look of it. Thanks
Not that it's particularly important but I've just realised that 120 days is (roughly) 4 months, not 3, giving a monthly cost of £2.50 for 250 minutes, not £3.33 for 333 minutes.

Never trust a maths teacher to do simple sums! I'm OK with x and y but absolute rubbish at adds, takes, times and share-bys ;-)
Chris - what level did you teach? I've never come across "share-bys".
Question Author
I never noticed. Took me two goes to get my 'O' level so I'll let you of. I remember share-bys though.
>>> what level did you teach?

CSE, O-level, GCSE and A-level, Bhg481.

As Gettingonabit recalls, 'share-bys' are what some primary school kids are taught with when first encountering division. So 12 ÷ 4 is read as '12 shared by 4" (as if 12 sweets were to be shared by 4 children).
Thanks Chris - I understood the meaning, I'd just never come across it before. It sounded like it was primary school.
