I know that if I take a screenshot or digital photo there will be all kinds of information imbedded in it including the date it was created.

If I use a device to take a photo of that image then the data from the original image is impossible to read (on the new photo). Am I correct?

I ask because of something I have read in a novel. It's bugging me

it would have it's own data, related to the time and date you created the second photo. I can't see how the original data could possibly transfer

Thanks, bednobs, that’s what I thought
unless it's printed on the picture of course
I dont think so - you are talking about the 'meta data' and I think it is applicable to that jpg and length of code. Evidentially I think they are always got the code for jpg. - rather than a scrap of paper with the photo on it

BUT - In Blade Runner, there is a makers mark on every scale of the artificial snake
and it would certainly be possible to do that for photos
I have done that for family photos - you do difft resolutions and then paste ( 150 -> 500 ) will paste very small.

someone who is familiar with jpg standards can tell you if they DO rather than they can

( big big crosswords, scan at 500 and then paste onto a blank with reso 300, and it is big big big and you can printo out on half an A4.)
oh and all the printers and photocopiers at the FCO have
little jiggaloos so that they can tell which one it came from

leak detector - they put them in after a mega leak - - ponting I think
