Hello Karyn,

A thermal wax printer is a nonimpact printer that works by applying heated pins to a ribbon covered with usually colored wax. The wax melts onto the paper to print an image.

Although most thermal wax printers are designed to print in color, there are also black-and-white thermal wax printers.
