Back to school chemistry:
2 molecules of butane burn 13 molecules of oxygen to form 8 molecules of carbon dioxide plus 10 molecules of water.
In other words you need good ventilation to prevent dampness and asphyxiation.
Put more simply - yes, they create an awful lot of condensation.
We used to use paraffin heaters back in the day - also produce a lot of condensation. Only electric or some sort of burner with an outside flue will be "dry".
And the fumes from paraffin heaters stained the ceiling. A white ceiling would soon become discoloured.
