Send Old Iphone To A Friend In New Zealand

If I clear my older iPhone to factory settings and send it to a friend in New Zealand, will they be able to add their SIM, and operate it without issue etc?
I think my question comes up remembering the old days of DVD and DVD players not being compatible across regions.

The phone is 100% unlocked as far as I know, as I haven't actually switched it on in over a year , and now I have done, it's going through the normal Apple introduction.

I'm 2 phones further on now, and my friend still has the iPhone 5 which is going to stop supporting WhatsApp by the end of September.

It occurs to me that international travellers use their phones all over the world either by activating roaming on their SIM card or by using a SIM from a local provider. I can't think of any reason why your phone won't work in NZ

You might have a problem with Royal Mail.

My daughter was selling an old Gameboy with games recently on eBay. A buyer in New Zealand wanted it. However there are little batteries in the game cartridges. My daughter went through all the online paperwork for posting them, and eventually gave up in frustration.

Please disregard my earlier answer. I have seen adverts for phones that are country specific so I don't know for sure.

you can't send batteries through Royal Mail. They have strict rules on what can be posted.

You can also remind your friend that Whatsapp will work equally well on a cheap Android phone, even a reconditioned one.
